  2. Candi,
I read that Rhee was out of town during the blizzard. Do you have any information on this?

If it is true she should have shared that with reporters and the community when asked why she reversed her decision on Sunday night.

I am not aware of whether Rhee is out of town in Sacramento but it wouldn't surprise me at all. I don't expect this administration to be transparent in anything that they do.

  4. How can Rhee make decisions or do her job effectively if she spends so much time away from the city? This must be why she has so many Q&A sessions and makes public appearances in schools to make it appear that she is working in DC.

I bet she even logs the hours of time she flies to CA as work time... You know, working that 80 hour work week answering 10,000 emails a month!

I think DC Teachers will be ask to report on Friday for that important PD training. Notice, Rhee and Fenty have been the only district that did not cancel school through Friday. THIS WILL BE THEIR BIG PAY BACK.

TEACHERS START SHOVELLING OR GET OUT YOUR SKIS.

Finally, check out City Paper piece on Fenty's side trip to a cycling cafe while he had his dc employees walking to work.

  6. Can you the chancellor is thinking about having teachers to report to school on Friday for the PD. She should think about how difficult it will be for teachers to report because half the streets in the city has not been plowed since the first snow storm. Just imagine how long it will take.

  8. Fenty and Rhee can take that PD day, and shove it where the sun don't shine! I'm staying home!

  9. Candi,

How do snow make-up days work? I thought we could miss two days without having make up any time. I realize that we have missed more than that, but in the City Paper Jennifer Calloway said we are making up the two days June 21 and 22 with the possibility of making up two more. Really???

  10. Teachers... just don't go to PD... they are not concerned with our safety. We must take it upon ourselves to make that decision and do what is right for us. As far as making up the days...we have no days built into our calendar but some counties considered these days state of emergencies and have forgiven the time. We all should call and write the city council and the mayor telling them that is what should happen for us too! The FEDERAL GOV. was closed for goodness sake!!! We should not have to make up these days! Start calling and writing my friends. If I stand alone, it won't work out for anyone!

In years past we had snow days built into our yearly calendar. Only if you went over the amount of days did you have to make them up. I am not aware if snow days were built into this calendar. If not they have to be made up. In years past, we have made them up by adding on a longer day and of course there is the possibility of adding on at the end of the year. Parents have complained at the idea of taking away spring break. Of course the days could also be waived but I doubt this will happen.

Under Fenty and Rhee anything is possible.
