Finally Some Good News For DC's Wrongfully Terminated Teachers

As reported on WTOP news by Mark Segraves, Vincent Gray will consider rehiring DC's fired teachers. Gray who will meet with Chancellor Michelle Rhee today at noon about her occupational future, told DC 50's News Plus that he thinks any of the 266 teachers and school personnel who were fired for budget reasons should be allowed back in the classrooms. In an interview scheduled to air this Friday, Gray stated: "I'm open for them being able to be considered for a job. I don't know why anybody would say they shouldn't be considered when in fact they were let go supposedly for budget reasons."

We deserve this and more based on what we have gone thru. We must remember our friends. Those who let us down as well. Remember Parker's WTU kick us to the curb. Remember that sorry a&% Lee Jackson of ODonnell Schwartz and Anderson Law Firm being a bumbling ignorant idiot in front of Judge Bartnof. Damn that pissed me off. Remember the Principals that set us up. Remember the relatives who were all so quick to doubt us. Remember the who withheld affection and support. Remember the children/mothers/fathers/significant others who said "I love You."
I remember when nobdy would write anything positive about us but you Candi. I remember being call a pervert by Michelle Rhee. I remember being told I will never be hired again by DCPS. I remember not being able to get a job for $20K less than what I made before. Oh hell yes, I remember because it is still my current condition.
I ain't never going to forget.

The Lord says vengence is mine but memba-ing belongs to me.

CANDI PLEASE CHECK THIS OUT FROM TURQUE'S ARTICLE ON GRAY AND RHEES PRESS CONFERENCE. I CAN'T BELIEVE RHEE APPEARS NERVOUS; MAYBE GRAY TOLD HER "I KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE DONE; YOU BE QUIET UNTIL YOU PACK YOUR BAGS OR ELSE I WILL CALL YOU OUT. DO YOU HEAR ME!"

"Rhee-hire teachers & Rhee-sign Rhee!"

Interesting video on Gray with Rhee clearly to the back, she left before the conference was even over, she definitely looked upset, probably how those employees who were nonchalantly fired. Sooo, any news on why Briggs resigned? I hear test scores might not be as reported, any news on that? Sorry Candi, but this is like one of the few, and I do mean few, places to get real news!!!

That is good news for the RIF'd teachers, but what about probationary teachers? Candi, I hope you will follow up on this, since many probationary teachers were fired without evaluations. Hopefully Vincent Gray will not forget about them.

It is just a photograph, it means nothing, why try and make it anything more. On one of the videos I saw she looked like she was laughing. It's a game face. The WaPo just likes to incite people by adding titles to create inflamed racist comments, look at the negative photos they always put up of Gray.

I think we have to advocate for Vince Gray to look into the firing of teachers and school personnel who did not have evaluations. Certainly my expectation will be that he too follow local laws including the DC Municipal regulations.

I disagree that it was just the Post seeking headlines. I saw the Gray press conference. As Efavorite a regular Washington Post commenter stated Rhee looked like a scared co-ed in a horror movie. I have to agree she looked like a deer in the headlights, sheepish and the consumate wall flower who stood in the background and then walked out while Gray was still at the podium. Body language speaks volumes. Rhee was not laughing in this video. Certainly the two did not present as a united front with Rhee at the podium alongside of Gray. I suspect Gray gave her walking papers even with the interference from Arne Duncan.

Candi, how do we advocate for Vincent Gray to look into the firing of personnel without evaluations? Who can we e-mail? Personally, I have been waiting for the new union president to come in before I try to get my case re-opened. Is that the wrong approach? If you could, please let me know who I should contact. Thanks. Hopefully there can be justice for the wrongfully terminated.

I must give credit where it is due - I was repeating that great line about the scared coed.

It originated with another WaPo poster, AGAAIA.

Anonymous @ 4:24 Thanks for your questions. Of course I need to make sure that I understand a little more about your case. If you were fired under IMPACT without an evaluation, that can be handled right now. Please write me off line and I can give you some information. If you were terminated due to the layoff of last year, Gray already appears open to considering re-hiring of teachers who were fired due to budgetary reasons. Given that he won't take office until January 2010, I am not exactly sure who is handling these types of issues at this point. Stay tuned for further information.

I think this is great news. Many teachers should never have been RIF'ed.
